What is the Colorado Mountain Half+ Marathon Series?
RUN YOUR TRANQUILITY
We all love a Colorado original and we certainly love the beauty and tranquility of our mountains. Five of Colorado’s original and most beloved half marathons and one unique 25K are teaming together, along with HAL Sports to bring you the Colorado Half+ Mountain Marathon Series! So you can Run Among the Peaks! in the most beautiful areas around Colorado. All events share that they are all non-profit organizations supporting area youth programs. Plus each event you complete will earn points towards series awards.
It all starts on June 16th with the Estes Park Half Marathon, part of the Estes Park Marathon weekend with something for the entire family. Run the original in one of the most beautiful town landscapes known for its resident elk herd and the ever-famous Stanley Hotel. All situated at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park.
Next test your speed and work to a new PR with one of Colorado’s oldest half marathons, the 46th Annual Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon (known as GTIS Half) takes place on August 10th. You start at beautiful Georgetown Lake between towering Rocky Mountains as you cruise through what is mostly (but not all!) downhill and fast course into iconic Idaho Springs.

The series then heads to the "Switzerland of America" with the Mt. Sneffels Marathon weekend and its iconic half on August 17th taking you on a journey between some of the most spectacular mountain ranges and views in the US through the area's valley on a declining course. You might even see a camel and a yak along the course (true story).

Next up is the Annual Ned*Ned Half Marathon in Nederland on September 14h. Nederland is known for its amazing beauty and the world-renowned Frozen Dead Guy (I know I have your attention now). It is nestled in a valley cut out by glaciers; you will run mostly on trails in beautiful national forests with Barker Reservoir as your backdrop.
Wrapping up our series is our "+" to this year's series with the Lead King Loop 25K (15.5 Miles) on September 15. This has been an iconic and favorite event for many runners and hikers. You will experience some of the most amazing fall colors in some of the most beautiful areas of Colorado. Your efforts will be rewarded with serenity, BBQ, and beer for those 21 and over.
